Trunk-view of the new tail panel.

A steel bar was made to act as a support to pull and align the trunk floor and the new tail panel. This will help ensure our bumper mounts are in the proper place.

Sometimes it’s better to replace the entire panel, other times a patch will suffice. In this case, the patch made more sense as the tip side of the quarter and the wheel houses were in good shape. Machinist’s blue dye is used to help mark the area for cutting.

After the panel is welded in place and metal finished smooth.

Driver side:

A tack-welding process keeps the heat down, and later, the seam will be dressed on the inside of the panel to remove any evidence of the repair.
