In your case, that jumper from T2 to the battery post should go somewhere else. Right now, the current sensor is just reading the charge output on the alternator. So you have a functioning system, but not as effective as it was designed to be.
The pic was to show the orientation of the terminals on the alternator. In reality, the T2 lead should go all the way to the battery or to a junction in the dash… just somewhere affected by voltage drop over the length of harness wire.
The GEN light isn’t crucial for operation, but it is nice to have working.
