Was the rest of it too far gone to be salvageable?

It was a basket case. The body was rusted, damaged, repaired poorly, then that cycle happened again about 4 times over the course of the car’s life. We elected to replace just about everything. It was the textbook example of why it’s better to get the nicest car you can to start with.
