    Hello everyone. I just discovered this site a couple days ago and I’m glad I did. Although I’m 100% loyal to Ford & Merc’s it‘s nice to visit a friendly site with other makes. I’ve been a fan of Kevin’s ‘Muscle Car of the Week’ videos for a long time – excellent job & great cars, please keep ‘em coming! Also love the threads on the restoration builds. It’s a goal of mine to someday have one of my dream cars professionally restored to the way I would have ordered it. However, that’ll have to wait for a while because I still have 3 boys to put thru college before I can think about that. Until then I like to find a good solid car to drive, maintain, and improve where I can –(just modest mechanical abilities). I usually keep one for a couple of years before selling it and finding something new to enjoy. Garage space and finances dictate that I have only one at a time.
    This is list of what I’ve had over the years. Not any trailer queens but they were all very solid, great looking & running cars :
    1973 Mach1 351-4V, 1967 fastback Mustang GT 390, 1970 Torino GT 351C, 1968 Cyclone GT 390, 1973 Gran Torino 351C, and I currently have a 1964 Comet Caliente. Now I have an itch to find a nice 4-speed, big block Galaxie . Note: In between having the Cyclone and the Gran Torino I had a 2008 Bullitt Mustang that I ordered new and although it was a fantastic car I didn’t keep it for long. I couldn’t wait to get back to a classic. I really missed turning a wrench & the new car just didn’t seem to have a ‘soul’ if you know what I mean. I’ll try to attach a pic of my ’64 Comet..

    That’s a good lookin’ Comet you have there! Love the color and the trim.. I’m partial to big red Fords myself. We had a ’65 in the shop recently doing some maintenance and a few upgrades. That gallery can be found here:

    Welcome, Duff! Your Comet looks fantastic. I’m a die hard Pontiac guy but a sweet looking Ford/Merc is a nice thing to see. I agree with you on the new car thing. Mine is a good appliance to get me from A to B. Not much more.

    Thanks for welcome guys. As requested here’s a little info about my 1964 Comet Caliente:
    I found it thru Craigslist last summer. It was in S.E. Michigan and was owned by an older guy who didn’t really know much about the cars history – and he hadn’t owned it long . I made the 2.5 hour drive home at 75 mph with absolutely no problems except for the thumbs-up gawkers that almost ran me off the Turnpike a couple of times. (I live in N. Ohio about 20 min. west of Cleveland)
    As you can see from the pic the exterior looks stock except for the still-period-correct wheels. Under the hood in place of the original 260 it now has a fresher 302 with a 280 Comp Cam, flat top pistons (approx. 8.5 to 1), Edlebrock Performer intake, Edlebrock 500 CFM 4-V carb., Mallory dist., 1 wire 100 AMP alternator, Borgeson power steering kit with a firm feel Mustang box, pump universals and hoses. A rebuilt C4 tranny with a shift kit. 4 gas shocks and rear sway bar. dual exhaust. The wheels are 15×6 Torque Thrust D’s with smooth sidewall tires (205/70 in front and 225/70 in back) –rubs a touch in front on a full turn. I plan on putting on 4 new tires this Spring (205/65/15 all the way around). The tires are in good shape but I prefer the stock look on the ’64-‘65 Comets with a little bit of a rear-ward rake. In my opinion, they have a wedge shape that doesn’t seem look quite right with a taller tire in back.
    The original interior is in excellent condition. It does have new carpet and headliner and has Dynamax insulation throughout the entire car (floor, trunk, doors, and qtr.’s), new front windshield, and a new trunk mat. A former owner added a sequential tail light kit and new headlamps. 8″ rear with 3.0 to 1 gears. The car is painted in 1968 Ford Candy Apple Red (The data plate decodes the original color as ‘Palomino’ a pale tan-ish color ).

    I haven’t had to do much to it mechanically as it starts, drives, and shifts (after a small adjustment of the C4’s modulator) great. It had small oil leak which I eventually traced to the fuel pump – replaced it and all seems fine now. I love the car. It’s unique, looks awesome, and is fun to drive. The only thing I’d like to change is the auto transmission. A manual shifted 4-speed would be perfect with this sized car & the 302. I guess I could swap it out but I know I’d never recoup the expense –(I paid too much as it is). Besides I know eventually I’ll want to move on to something else so I’ll just enjoy the heck out of it for a while.

    Very nice! I know what you mean about keeping the mods to a minimum so that you can spend more time driving it. In my opinion, nothing beats a well-sorted out car that you can drive anytime. I dig the bench seat, too.. must be comfy.

    I think you might recoup the expense of a 5-speed manual, and you would surely enjoy it, even if you didn’t get the money back out of it, but who knows. Judging by the auctions these past weeks, anything is possible!

    Thanks Kevin. You’re right about the auction prices. Some of the cars that are getting crazy money I just don’t understand, but I guess everyone’s taste is different and that’s a good thing or else we’d all be chasing the same cars!

    Speaking of taste, I’m curious as to what is your favorite car from the Brothers collection.
    You’ve shown so many awesome cars on ‘Muscle Car of the Week’ but my personal favorite has to be the Coventry Gray ’66 7-liter Galaxie. Wow! I’ve watched that video at least 20 times. I love it – just has to be one of the best all-time Fords!

    I’m right there with you on the Gray ’66 R-Code. I had never spent much time with those cars until that one, and I went bananas over it.

    Of course, I’m a big Buick fan, so the yellow GSX is a winner in my book.

    But there are so many super-awsome cars in The Brothers Collection that it’s really hard to pick one. I really dig the white ’70 Hemi Cuda convertible, and any AAR car, as well as the RAIV Pontiacs. I’m just a Muscle Car fanatic all around, so I can find things about each that I really dig. L88 Corvettes, Boss 302s and 429s… 427 Camaros… it really makes the mind go nutty!

    Well I am a little late to the party, but welcome Duff. You have a very nice 64 Caliente there that you can drive and enjoy.
