1973 Pontiac Trans Am 455 Holley Sniper EFI Gear Vendors Overdrive Install V8 Speed and Resto Shop

We recently upgraded this super-cool 1973 Pontiac Trans Am powered by a Butler built 455 with a Holley Sniper EFI electronic fuel injection system and a Gear Vendors Overdrive unit. The car now has new-car driving manners and a snappy throttle, and the highway RPM has been dropped for better economy and easier cruising, all without changing the classic look. This one has it all… a Butler Performance Pontiac 455, A/C, even a working 8-track stereo! The idea of a Pontiac 455 EFI and a turbo 400 automatic transmission upgraded with a GearVendor overdrive is cool for sure.

V8 Speed Shows Six Cars, Average Score 993 / 1000

We’re honored to present the V8 Speed & Resto Shop display from the 2024 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals! The cars pictured scored an average of 993 out of 1000 points, including a 997 and 998! Perhaps the best part is that they are all driven, and they represent cars we’ve built over our 20 year history.

Left to right, they were completed in 2010, 2016, 2013, 2012, 2023, and 2019, with the chassis in process now.

Winning Cars On Display:

1969 Chevrolet Corvette Roadster Resto Mod – MCACN debut, The Garage Museum display car, completed 2023 – 993/1000

1968 Chevrolet Camaro “Reloaded” – MCACN veteran, SEMA veteran, 2011 – 988 / 1000

1969 Chevrolet Camaro “Lou’s Change” – MCACN veteran, SEMA veteran, 2013 – 994 / 1000

1967 Pontiac GTO Resto Mod – MCACN veteran, 2019 – 998 / 1000

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Resto Mod COMP Cams Anniversary Car – MCACN debut, SEMA veteran, 2016 – 997 / 1000

1965 Chevrolet Malibu SS – MCACN debut, Completed 2010 – 982 / 1000

1957 Ford Ranch Wagon Custom – Chassis, 2024 Debut

It’s common for fresh, unused show cars to score high at shows, but when a car finished 11 years ago scores 994, a 9 year old build scores 997, and a 5 year old restoration scores 998, you know the build team paid attention to the details. We’re fortunate for the incredible customer support we receive, for our talented and caring team, and to the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals for hosting our display.

Thank you! #Driven #musclecars #v8speedandresto #mcacn #showcars #grateful

Raising The Bar on a Gold Medalist’s 1967 Pontiac GTO

We were blown away when multi Olympic gold medal winning high jump World Champion Mutaz Barshim reached out to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop for upgrades on his 1967 Pontiac GTO! He wanted more performance, reliability, and style, so we installed upgrades like Holley fuel injection, MSD Performance ignition, and a Magnaflow exhaust system to make it sing. We added QA1 suspension, Borgeson Universal Company steering, American Racing wheels and Nitto Tire USA rubber to help it hug the turns. Next came Vintage Air A/C, Dakota Digital gauges, a restored center console and a new Grant steering wheel to make it nicer for Mutaz to drive. Finally, a flashy satin pearl white exterior wrap makes the GTO stand tall!

From The Customer:
“It’s clear a lot of care and attention went into this, and the outcome reflects that. Truly impressive work on the GTO.”

A “Goat” For A G.O.A.T.

We’re honored he chose our team to “raise the bar” on his GTO, and we share his enthusiasm for cool muscle cars and appreciate his strong character… you may recall that Barshim split a gold medal with Italian jumper Gianmarco Tamberi at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games in one of the most inspiring Olympic moments of all time! It’s only fitting that a high-jumping G.O.A.T. drives a cool “GOAT” of his own! Thanks Mutaz, fly high!

Reach us anytime at v8speedshop.com to chat about upgrading your ride, and relive that Olympic moment here:
