My 6 year old helping me strip the parts car for one of my projects. Takes my twice as long to get anything done… But if I don’t encourage and teach him now, then when?

Jon, you have the patience of a saint. I would struggle with that when my girls would want to help me do stuff to my GTO. Of course, now they’re into other things and couldn’t be less interested in it.

That’s cool that you take the time to let your son hang with you in the garage. I think the exposure to tools, machines, hardware, fluids, and all that stuff really helps give them a perspective on how life works.

As for Mike and the girls… just wait, they’ll be interested in the GTO before you know it!![/quote]

Amen to all that has been said. I will tell you that all though working and hanging with your little ones can take more time, you will not get that time back. So, build the relationship and teach life lessons now when they are so interested and encourageable. I know with some children, boys especially, they will hit puberty and then you may be “dumber than dirt”, in there thinking, for a few years. So make the impression, teach them some skills and love on them now!
