A huge shoutout to these two young rockstars, Josilyn Lazenby and Emma Smith, for not only graduating from the amazing Career Center of Southern Illinois, but also for CRUSHING it and winning the prestigious V8 Speed and Resto Shop “Holeshot” Scholarship!  Emma also clinched the CCSI Rising Star Award!

Josilyn, you’re a welding whiz! Your dedication to mastering the craft is truly inspiring. We can’t wait to see the incredible projects you’ll build with your newfound skills. Keep sparking those flames, girl!

Emma, you’re a mechanical marvel! Your passion for understanding how things work is contagious. We have no doubt you’ll diagnose and fix any mechanical challenge that comes your way, and we look forward to your skills growing in our upholstery shop!

This is a HUGE win for our community, and especially for young women considering careers in the automotive industry. We need more role models like Josilyn and Emma, showing everyone that welders and wrenches can be just as empowering as anything else.

So let’s give these future automotive superstars a round of applause!  We can’t wait to see what amazing things they achieve next.

Known as “The Grand Daddy Of Them All”, the Grand National Roadster Show is a must-attend event for anyone into Hot Rods, Kustoms, Lowriders, VWs, Muscle, Kulture, and more. This year they celebrated the 90th anniversary of the 1932 Ford roadster, and there were Deuce roadsters of all flavors on hand to check out and enjoy. Recognizable standouts include the 1951 Hirohata Merc, which recently crossed the Mecum auction block for over $2 Million with the juice. Another favorite is the “Limefire” 1932 Ford Roadster, which graced the pages of Hot Rod Magazine and thousands of walls in poster form back in the 1980s. Numerous awards are presented at the event, but the two most prestigeous include the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) award, and the Al Slonaker Memorial Award. This year, the blue 1934 Chevrolet Roadster owned by Jeff Breault and built by Devlin Rod & Customs took home the AMBR, and the amazing 1932 Ford Coupe owned by Pat Gauntt and built by Hollywood Hot Rods won the Slonaker, sponsored by ARP. The 2022 GNRS did not disappoint, and we recommend booking your visit to Pomona, California, for the 2023 show!

The world was thrown a curve ball during the 2020 pandemic, but that did not stop the Specialty Equipment Market Association from celebrating their Hall Of Fame inductees, innovators, and 2020 SEMA Award winners. This time, the Awards Ceremony was broadcast on what would have been the Thursday night of the 2020 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The event was hosted by motorsports announcer Jared DeAnda and V8TV’s Kevin Oeste.

Join Kevin Oeste as he announces the winners of the New Products Awards for the SEMA360. These awards recognize outstanding achievements in the development of products that enhance the performance, styling, comfort, convenience and safety of cars, trucks and SUVs. This year, the products and awards are presented online through SEMA360, the online event that is making it possible for auto parts manufacturers to connect with professional buyers from throughout the world.

DuQuoin, IL – Area resident Larry Frees and his grandson Nick Schmidt proudly display the 2014 Car Craft Magazine Publisher’s Choice award presented to them at the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in DuQuoin, Illinois.

The recently restored “Mr. Chevy” hauler and accompanying 1955 “Mr. Chevy” race car were hand selected by Car Craft Magazine Publisher Ed Zinke as his choice for the most unique vehicles of the event. Even more exciting, the car and truck were photographed by veteran automotive photographer/writer Jeff Smith for a feature in an upcoming enthusiast magazine.

The car / truck combo beat out thousands of entrants for the honor, one of only 9 magazine editorial awards given.

“This weekend was a dream come true” Frees said smiling. “Yesterday was the first time in 38 years that the race car took its place on the back of it’s matching car hauler, and we could not have asked for a better outcome!” he beamed.

“Mr. Chevy” will no doubt be riding a little higher on the back of it’s hauler as they attend automotive events throughout the summer.
