Thanks to all who came out to our Spring 2022 Open House and Swap Meet! Thanks to all on our team who helped out, and to all the great people who came out to share a fun day! There were lots of cool cars on hand, and it was fun to reconnect with friends. We’re looking forward to the next event we host at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. Here are a few photos from the event, were you there, and did you bring something cool to our car show?
Known as “The Grand Daddy Of Them All”, the Grand National Roadster Show is a must-attend event for anyone into Hot Rods, Kustoms, Lowriders, VWs, Muscle, Kulture, and more. This year they celebrated the 90th anniversary of the 1932 Ford roadster, and there were Deuce roadsters of all flavors on hand to check out and enjoy. Recognizable standouts include the 1951 Hirohata Merc, which recently crossed the Mecum auction block for over $2 Million with the juice. Another favorite is the “Limefire” 1932 Ford Roadster, which graced the pages of Hot Rod Magazine and thousands of walls in poster form back in the 1980s. Numerous awards are presented at the event, but the two most prestigeous include the America’s Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) award, and the Al Slonaker Memorial Award. This year, the blue 1934 Chevrolet Roadster owned by Jeff Breault and built by Devlin Rod & Customs took home the AMBR, and the amazing 1932 Ford Coupe owned by Pat Gauntt and built by Hollywood Hot Rods won the Slonaker, sponsored by ARP. The 2022 GNRS did not disappoint, and we recommend booking your visit to Pomona, California, for the 2023 show!
Mike “Q Ball” Clarke and Kevin Oeste bring you the latest episode of the V8 Radio Podcast right from the 2021 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show floor! They are overwhelmed with all the amazing muscle cars on display at MCACN, and also to see so many great friends over the weekend. They were also shooting video coverage for the Muscle Car of The Week and V8TV video channels, and Kevin was unveiling Premiere Restorations as the Official Emcee of the event. The cars were amazing, and the legendary Hirohata Mercury even made a surprise appearance. Even so, the guys were able to drum up some automotive trivia as they recorded this from the Mecum Auctions display.
The V8 Radio Podcast are coming to you directly from the 2021 SEMA Show floor in Las Vegas! Mike Clarke and Kevin Oeste bring you a mid-SEMA week update, including thoughts on the show, new products, the electrified Project X, and much more. Even a cameo from our buddy Chip! But even on-location, they still toss out some cool Automotive Trivia questions and they usual antics you’ve come to expect from the V8 Radio Podcast!
We all rely on electronic fuel injection systems for reliable performance today, but would you believe that the Shelby team was experimenting with the technology back in 1968? Pete Disher brought out this unbelievably rare 1968 Shelby GT500 engineering test vehicle that was equipped with a 428 Cobra Jet engine (rather than the 428 Police Interceptor as standard) and a Conelec Electronic Fuel Injection system as well. It’s an amazing piece of history that was on display at the 2017 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Rosemont, Illinois.
The 2nd Annual V8TV Drive-In Cruise Event at the Belleville Sky-View Drive-In was a huge success, thanks to everyone who came out to see Bullitt on the big screen and enjoy the car show among friendly people with cool cars. There was a huge variety of cars on hand, including 1950s originals, Muscle Cars, classic and off-road trucks, dune buggies, street machines, pro-touring cars, traditional hot rods and kustoms, modern muscle cars, and much more. Special thanks to our generous sponsors who helped us present the event, and the V8 Speed & Resto Shop crew for doing the work!
