If you’re in SoCal, go check out the Tri-Five Invitational at the Grand National Roadster Show this weekend in Pomona! We’re honored to see the Mr. Chevy ’55 and hauler on display in this amazing gathering of influential tri-five hot rods, customs, and racers. The 1955 Gasser is original, and the hauler was partially restored by the V8 Speed & Resto Shop. Thanks to Goodguys Rod & Custom Association for sharing this pic in their gallery! On this episode of V8 Radio, Mike and Kevin cover fun things about classic and muscle car auctions, and not just the typical dramatic auction action. Later, the conversation veers to restoration standards and how enthusiasts have far greater access to tools and techniques today then in years past. They also reminisce about some of the crazy projects they attempted in their youth, mostly out of necessity, and how they approach things differently today. Throw in a couple good trivia questions and a few more laughs and you’ve got an inexplicably exuberant episode of V8 Radio!
The “Experts” are quick to point out the value of classic and muscle cars, but on this episode of V8 Radio, Mike and Kevin discuss elements that many might not consider when assigning value to their classic cars.
We are honored and privileged to learn that the 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7-L restored by the V8 Speed & Resto Shop has been chosen for a six page feature – including a cover photo – in the latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines Magazine! The entire crew worked very hard on this complete restoration, and we could not be happier to have a future in such an excellent publication as muscle machines. The magazine is a new stands as of April 21, 2017, and subscribers should have there copies already. Check your local new stands to get your copy today!
Welcome to a super-special episode of V8 Radio, the companion program to the 200th episode of Muscle Car Of The Week! In this episode, we’re airing the complete interview we recorded with 3-time Indy 500 winner Bobby Unser recorded at the 2016 Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago. This interview was a special stage presentation where Unser gave us the story about the amazing 1969 Ford Torino Pike’s Peak racer he drove to victory in 1969. The legendary cast of characters in the story includes Bunkie Knudsen, Smokey Yunick, Bill Stroppe, Holman and Moody, and many others, and Unser tells the fascinating story as if it happened yesterday. The car is a purpose-built stock car built by Bill Stroppe and Holman and Moody and is powered by a Smokey Yunick built Boss 429. Unser had not seen the car since ‘69, but he was surprised to learn that the car remains in as-raced condition today. He went on to share many stories of racing in general, and how to be a winner not only on the track but also in life, and a great recollection of a huge party after a winning snowmobile racing season! The display was a huge hit at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, and the car is a very special piece of racing history in the Brothers Collection. Enjoy the show!
