This cool 1949 Oldsmobile is powered by the original 303 Rocket Oldsmobile V8, but is wearing a smooth custom look with a lowered stance, vintage green exterior, and fully a finished interior. The 1949 Oldsmobile joined Cadillac as the second American automaker to mass produce an overhead valve V8 engine, and this version remained in production until 1953.
Returning The Olds To The Road
The V8 Speed and Resto Shop team aims to make the car more enjoyable to drive all day long, installing power steering, air conditioning, disc brakes, cruise control, tilt wheel, and perhaps some seat upgrades as well. Fuel injection might be in the cards, we’ll post all the pictures and videos here so you can follow the progress of this unique resto-mod street rod… is that a “Street Mod?” Hmmm…

There’s just something about the numbers 427 to a Muscle Car fan.
This very clean 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS convertible recently came to the V8 Speed and Resto Shop in need of a heart transplant. Although it had a 396 under the hood, it was pretty anemic. Like most of us, the owner wanted more power, so the V8 Speed team upped the ante with a new Chevrolet Performance ZZ427.
427 Cubes of Attitude Adjustment!
This all-new ZZ427 is a 480 horsepower big block Chevy V8, just waiting to transform the Camaro’s personality. A Vintage Air Frontrunner accessory drive and A/C system keep everything cool up front and inside the car, and the V8 crew topped the 427 with a Holley Terminator Stealth EFI system and a slew of other items to make it sing.
More Sport for the Rally Sport
The Camaro is a real RS car, born in the same black exterior and parchment interior colors you see here. It has some cool options, like the rally gauge package in the console and the headrests topping the bucket seats. However, this one is not all stock, by any stretch. In addition to that thumping 427, you’ll find a 5-speed manual transmission in place of the original 4-speed, and tubular suspension and coil-over springs and shocks for better handling. The wheels look right, but they are upsized billet aluminum Chevy Rally style wheels wrapped in custom modern redline tires from Diamondback Classics. These are a great choice for any restomod Camaro.

Hidden In Plain Sight
The Holley Terminator Stealth fuel injection system looks almost exactly like a Holley double pumper carb, but offers better starting, instant response, and modern fuel and timing control that can’t be matched by a carburetor. The 427 utilizes aluminum heads and a full roller cam valvetrain, so the risk of flattening a lobe or trashing a lifter is negated. We always like to build tasteful restomods here at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. If you’ve got a Camaro or any other Muscle Car that needs some love, we’re happy to chat about it! This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air arrived at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop on a trailer due to running issues after an EFI conversion. It is a classic beauty – its striking red exterior, complemented by a white top and original style upholstery, exudes the timeless charm of a ’57 model. With a recent small block Chevy engine nestled under the hood, this car is poised to deliver an exhilarating driving experience once all the necessary adjustments are made.
The V8 Speed and Resto Shop team is factory Holley trained on electronic fuel injection systems. This means that the beloved ’57 Chevy Bel Air is in capable hands, ensuring that it receives the precise care and attention required to address its concerns. As the restoration journey unfolds, the photo gallery below captures every moment of the ’57s visit to the shop, providing a glimpse into the meticulous craftsmanship and dedication that goes into reviving automotive legends.
This 1978 Pontiac Trans Am came to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop more like a lame duck than a bird of fire, so our team went to work adding new rear gears, a 2004R overdrive transmission, a roller cam from COMP Cams, and a FAST EZ-2.0 EFI system for better driving manners. The Pontiac 400 engine even received an unexpected refresh along the way. It’s not often to see a Pontiac 400 fuel injected engine, but this car keeps the Poncho power with modern touches.
We sell these parts and can install them on your classic or muscle car, just contact the V8 Speed & Resto Shop to talk to our technicians or to schedule your upgrades, transportation services are available.

Hot Wheels: Chevy Corvette Restomod Build: Custom ’64 Corvette C2 At The V8 Speed and Resto Shop
We’ve all wanted a full-size version of our favorite Hot Wheels car, and this custom 1964 Chevrolet Corvette built at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop makes that dream come true! The restomod Corvette build features custom paint, performance suspension upgrades from Global West, new disc brakes, and a Holley Sniper EFI system install on the Edelbrock 350 crate engine.
The Design
The main part of the project was repainting the Corvette in custom colors. The goal was to give the overall appearance of a full-size Hot Wheels car, a car that is fun to look at and drive! Custom C2 Corvettes can be controversial, as changing a C2 Corvette from original can hurt it’s collector car market value. However, this 1964 Corvette did not have it’s original engine any longer, and the exterior and interior had been changed from their original colors as well. This allowed for some freedom of expression to build a custom Corvette with a new paint job all it’s own.
Building The Corvette
This custom Corvette video features disassembling the corvette, repairing the fiberglass body, and a bit of Corvette C2 history. The V8 Speed and Resto Shop paint department repaints the Corvette in Ermine White, then lays out the 3 color custom stripe design. We mask off the stripes and custom paint the Corvette in our downdraft Blowtherm paint booth, and spray a final clear coat.
Our team had so much fun with this 1964 Corvette that we even built a 1:64th scale Hot Wheels version to match the full size car!

This beautiful blue 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle is powered by a Chevy big block V8 being fed by a Holley Fuel Injection system. It came to visit our shop for some maintenance and to have the EFI system tuned for optimal driveability.
This 1967 Pontiac GTO wasn’t always the head-turning classic it is today. When it arrived at V8 Speed & Resto Shop, it was a far cry from its former glory. Rusted and neglected, it more closely resembled a “swamp thing” than a muscle car. However, our team of experts wasn’t fazed by the challenge. We were determined to transform this relic into a showstopper!
A Complete Frame-Off Restoration
Our restoration process for this 1967 GTO was a complete teardown, or “frame-off” restoration. This meticulous approach ensures that no area of the car is overlooked. Here’s a closer look at some of the key improvements we made:
Chassis Strengthening: The GTO’s chassis received a thorough inspection and repairs were made to the body mounts and other critical areas. We then applied a protective epoxy primer and industrial-grade paint finish.
Suspension Upgrade: We replaced the original suspension system with a high-performance tubular setup from BMR Fabrication. This upgrade enhances handling and performance without sacrificing a comfortable ride.
Bodywork and Paint: The GTO’s body was media blasted to remove rust and imperfections. Our fabrication team then replaced rusted panels, repaired the dashboard, and built a custom firewall. Once the body repairs were complete, the car was painted in its original Tyrol Blue with a stunning two-stage finish.
Taking the Interior Up a Notch
The interior of the GTO wasn’t spared our restoration magic. Our team reupholstered the bucket seats and refurbished the door panels, dashboard, headliner, and carpet. We also added some modern touches, like a new sound system from Custom Autosound and Dakota Digital gauges.
The Finishing Touches
The final step involved installing a Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust system to unleash the power of the Pontiac 400 V8 engine. New wheels and tires completed the transformation, giving the GTO a truly aggressive look.
A Near-Perfect Score and a Dream Realized
The culmination of our hard work was presenting the finished GTO to its owner at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show in Chicago. The car was a huge hit, scoring a near-perfect 997 points in the Street Modified class!
