This great looking 1968 Chevrolet Camaro LS3 Restomod came to the V8 Speed and Resto Shop to fix some tuning issues and to have a new custom interior installed. The plan was to modernize the door panels with some Fesler pieces, and custom design and build a center console to house the Vintage Air A/C controls, the power window switches, a pair of stainless cup holders, a double-din audio system, USB power, and the Tremec T56 6-speed shifter.
The V8 Speed and Resto Shop interior department completely designed, built, upholstered, and wired the custom console before installing it in the Camaro. The Fesler door and rear side panels were upholstered in matching black vinyl with a corresponding hounds-tooth insert to match the Camaro’s seats.
Before the car was complete, our team identified that the roof skin was rusty and improperly installed, so the V8 Speed and Resto Shop Fabrication Department went to work removing the old skin, repairing the rust, and installing a new piece. The V8 Speed and Resto Shop Body Shop finished the job and painted the new roof with a black industrial coating, then the Interior Shop installed a new vinyl top.
The LS3 1968 Camaro makes great power, and is a real blast to drive. We’re excited to see this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro rolling down the road, and the owner is looking forward to making more memories on road trips with his restomod Camaro.

This clean Hugger Orange 1969 Chevrolet Camaro arrived at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop with a fresh LS engine swap and some new suspension mods. However, the engine is in need of some custom tuning to improve drivability. Some additional suspension updates and a set of new wheels are other new upgrades.
This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro arrived in-process at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. The car came to us from Canada where new quarter panels, trunk panels, and other sheet metal repair had been done, in addition to a Detroit Speed subframe and front suspension and rear QUADRALink suspension system were installed. The V8 Team will be completing the fabrication work and straightening the body and applying a shade of blue paint with a hockey stripe. The car is powered by an Edelbrock Pro-Flo EFI unit on a 454 Big Block Chevy V8.
Some restored cars look completed, but still require extensive refinement and tuning to be road-ready. In this case, our customer had this sweet 1969 Camaro restored for them, but the shop did not complete some of the final drivability details, so the customer is not confident driving the car. The car is sporting some cool parts selections like a FiTech fuel injected 454 Chevy V8 coupled to a Tremec TKO 500 5-Speed transmission, all wrapped in a stock RS / SS trim package. However, the “last 5%” details still need to be addressed to make sure the car is ready for miles of trouble-free cruising. For example, the front tires rub the inner fenders when turning, the windshield washer system does not work, there are some loose radio wires, and other nuisance items. Once they are remedied, the engine tune will be optimized, brake performance dialed-in, and other systems verified for proper operation. The V8 Speed & Resto Shop team is well-versed in this process, and we’ll be performing final adjustments to remedy the quirks of a fresh restoration.

This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro came to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop to have the body panels properly installed, then go through the bodywork and paint departments ultimately receiving a new paint job. The color is a custom mix Axalta paint we named “Midnight Magic”, and looks awfully close to black, but actually has a purple hue with flake. It turned out sharp! The customer will be completing the assembly of the car.
1969 Camaro “Carbon Flash” Restoration in the V8 Speed & Resto Shop
Sometimes it’s advantageous to take over a project than to start from scratch. In this case, the customer wanted a cool ‘69 Camaro, and we happened to find him one that was already undergoing a restoration. The owner of this clean Arizona car changed his mind and decided to sell his project, so we had the car shipped to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop in Red Bud, IL, where it will now become the Pro-Touring Camaro the new owner has always wanted. Features include a Holley Terminator EFI system, Vintage Air A/C, Scat seats, restoration parts from Classic Industries, Axalta paint, ARP engine hardware, COMP cam, and much more.
Once the car arrived in our shop, we took inventory of all the parts that came with the car and gave it an initial once-over.
It is a very clean car that had just received a silver paint job. Our customer wants a different color, but at least this one does not require extensive bodywork.
