The COMP Cams 40th Anniversary 1969 Camaro will be on display at the 2016 SEMA show in Las Vegas in the COMP Performance Group booth #23043. The Camaro was restored by the V8 Speed & Resto Shop in Red Bud, IL., and the complete restoration will be featured on several episodes of V8TV, airing on Rev’n, TUFF TV, The Action Channel, and online.
This was an awesome project, the chance to restore the body on a 1955 Chevrolet hauler truck named “Carried Away” which serves as the chauffeur for an original 1955 Chevy gasser named “Mr. Chevy”. Mr. Chevy first became a race car around 1968, and has a great story all on it’s own. Below you’ll see the videos on the car and the truck, along with the restoration photos at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop. Once completed, Mr. Chevy and Carried Away were feature vehicles at the SEMA Show, the Grand National Roadster Show, the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, the Syracuse Nationals, the Tri-5 Nationals, and many others. This year, Original Parts Group, Inc. brought out an unbelievable 1963 Cadillac Eldorado Hardtop that is freshly restored for the 2014 SEMA show! What’s more, they estimate 25% of the restoration parts on this car are now available from OPGI. The car is extremely rare, as there are only an estimated 9-12 ’63 Eldorado Hardtops ever built!
Ringbrothers are constantly raising the bar when it comes to innovative design and performance, and the 1966 Chevelle "Recoil" does it again. Here, Kelle and Mike Ring take a few moments to go over "Recoil" and point out the extensive body modifications, design elements, and the 1000 horsepower driveline!
MagnaFlow Exhaust Products strives to be ahead of the curve when it comes to bringing out performance exhaust systems for the latest cars and trucks, and at the 2014 SEMA show, the were all over the 2015 models. In this video, Rich Waitas takes us through the new applications for Mustangs, F150s, Corvettes, and Harleys, as well as shows us some new coatings for MagnaFlow systems. He also brought us up to speed on some of the technology in the OE systems and how MagnaFlow incorporates the use of active valving on their systems as well.
We were all extremely excited to learn that Mr. Chevy has landed the lead image on Hot Rod’s website! They posted a gallery of the first 75 cars at SEMA, with Mr. Chevy leading the way. The vintage 1955 Chevy Gasser and matching hauler “carried away” were a huge hit at the SEMA show. It’s quite an honor!

The SEMA show is often equated with new parts, as it is THE show where all the new stuff is unveiled. However, this year, we brought out a vintage 1955 Chevy Gasser race car and hauler to share with the SEMA attendees. Mr. Chevy was built to this configuration back in 1968, the hauler in ’71, and the car was raced until 1976. On one bad day back in 1976, original builder Van Heck broke the car and wrecked the hauler, and banished both vehicles to his barn for good. The car was bought by Larry Frees at Heck’s estate sale in 2006 and cleaned & repaired to “last raced” condition, and the truck was restored partially by the V8 Speed & Resto Shop. Since Frees got the car running and the truck all back together, he’s been sharing the pair with enthusiasts at various shows around the country
The S71 Olds made the cover of this month’s Popular Hot Rodding Magazine ! There’s also a full color feature inside. We are really honored to have one of our creations featured in this special issue, along side of some of the coolest cars from the SEMA show built by the best in the biz. One thing we’d like to point out is that the engine was built by Bill Trovato at BTR Performance (Not Kevin as the mag states, so give him a call if you want your own screaming Olds engine) and they transposed the name to SR71 from S71, but it’s all good.
