This great looking 1968 Chevrolet Camaro LS3 Restomod came to the V8 Speed and Resto Shop to fix some tuning issues and to have a new custom interior installed. The plan was to modernize the door panels with some Fesler pieces, and custom design and build a center console to house the Vintage Air A/C controls, the power window switches, a pair of stainless cup holders, a double-din audio system, USB power, and the Tremec T56 6-speed shifter.

The V8 Speed and Resto Shop interior department completely designed, built, upholstered, and wired the custom console before installing it in the Camaro. The Fesler door and rear side panels were upholstered in matching black vinyl with a corresponding hounds-tooth insert to match the Camaro’s seats.

Before the car was complete, our team identified that the roof skin was rusty and improperly installed, so the V8 Speed and Resto Shop Fabrication Department went to work removing the old skin, repairing the rust, and installing a new piece. The V8 Speed and Resto Shop Body Shop finished the job and painted the new roof with a black industrial coating, then the Interior Shop installed a new vinyl top.

The LS3 1968 Camaro makes great power, and is a real blast to drive. We’re excited to see this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro rolling down the road, and the owner is looking forward to making more memories on road trips with his restomod Camaro.

Patch Panel or Full Body Panel Replacement?

If you have rust or damage in your classic car, muscle car, hot rod, or truck, you have some options when it comes to sheet metal body repair panels.    One option is to replace the entire panel, be it a quarter panel, fender, floor section, trunk floor, roof skin, dashboard, or other body panel.

The other option is to replace a section of the panel, cutting it in the middle and only welding in what is needed.   Which is the better option, full panel replacement or patch panel installation?    This video attempts to answer that question as shown at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop.

Our team performs original factory style complete body panel replacements as well as patch panel installation, as we have the tools and experience to complete both types of repairs that are nearly undetectable when completed.    Our fabrication shop uses resistance spot welders and TIG welders to install quarter panels, trunk floors, trunk drop-down panels, cabin floors, rocker panels, fenders, and more.

Contact the V8 Speed & Resto Shop if your classic car, muscle car, hot rod, truck, or other restoration project vehicle has rust or damage to repair.

According to the numbers, there were only 38 of these first generation 1967 Excalibur roadsters built, and the V8 Speed & Resto Shop crew just finished a freshening on a very cool maroon version for a great customer.     The car is powered by a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 327 and is hooked to a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic transmission, and features functional side exiting pipes and dual exhaust.   The chassis is basically a stretched 1964 Studebaker Lark, with front disc brakes and a third headlight that turns with the steering wheel, like a Tucker Torpedo.   Inside, you’ll find an engine-turned dash with Stewart Warner gauges and an original Motorola radio.   This car is showing just over 19,000 miles on the odometer, and had not run in years before being delivered to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop for a tune-up and some new wide whitewalls from Diamond Back Classics.    These are rare and unusual cars, and we’re happy to keep them on the road!Click “Read More” for the complete photo gallery!

1969 Chevrolet Camaros are some of the most popular Muscle Cars of all time, because they are equally as cool when preserved in original stock condition or modified for increased performance, style, comfort, and power.   The V8 Speed and Resto Shop team recently performed some major upgrades on this show-quality 1969 Camaro, including a complete Detroit Speed suspension system and a supercharged LT4 V8 and 6-speed manual transmission.     The car is a blast to drive, and is the cover car of the June, 2020 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines Magazine!

This clean Hugger Orange 1969 Chevrolet Camaro arrived at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop with a fresh LS engine swap and some new suspension mods.   However, the engine is in need of some custom tuning to improve drivability.    Some additional suspension updates and a set of new wheels are other new upgrades.
