Our customer’s dad bought this sweet green 1966 Oldsmobile 442 brand new in July of 1966 from Granger Oldsmobile in LaGrange, Illinois, and now he wants to upgrade it for the next 50 years.    Don’t worry, he’s got all the original parts stored safely, but now the car has numerous bolt-ons for better handling and performance.    Follow along as the V8 Speed & Resto Shop team installs a modern Chevrolet Performance LS3 V8 engine – without harming the originality of the car.

We’re honored to see the Mr. Chevy ’55 and hauler on display in this amazing gathering of influential tri-five hot rods, customs, and racers.   The 1955 Gasser is original, and the hauler was partially restored by the V8 Speed & Resto Shop.  Thanks to Goodguys Rod & Custom Association for sharing this pic in their gallery! We are honored and privileged to learn that the 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 7-L restored by the V8 Speed & Resto Shop has been chosen for a six page feature – including a cover photo – in the latest issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines Magazine!   The entire crew worked very hard on this complete restoration, and we could not be happier to have a future in such an excellent publication as muscle machines.   The magazine is a new stands as of April 21, 2017, and subscribers should have there copies already. Check your local new stands to get your copy today!

We enjoyed refreshing this 1979 Chevrolet Bonanza Pickup!  This one is still in it’s original family, and we’re honored to have had the opportunity to give it a repaint and make it look new again. We fixed some rust in the floors, rockers, and cab corners, and resprayed it in it’s original color. Lots of restoration parts form Classic Industries helped make it fresh. New interior items include Dynamat sound deadener, new dash pad, door panels, carpet, and weatherstripping. It’s not a high-profile show truck, but it means the world to our customer, so it means the same to us! Thanks to the owner and to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop crew for returning another classic to the road!

However, we do like driving it, so we elected to install a Pertronix Igniter electronic ignition module and Flame Thrower ignition coil our original distributor to eliminate the mechanical breaker points and enjoy smoother starts and better performance. This 1969 Chevrolet Camaro came to the V8 Speed & Resto Shop to have the body panels properly installed, then go through the bodywork and paint departments ultimately receiving a new paint job.   The color is a custom mix Axalta paint we named “Midnight Magic”, and looks awfully close to black, but actually has a purple hue with flake.    It turned out sharp!  The customer will be completing the assembly of the car.
