This bright red 1967 Chevrolet Camaro is seeking additional power and road holding performance, and that’s exactly what it’s going ot get at the V8 Speed and Resto Shop! Power will come from a modern LS engine, and the “road holding” performance will be courtesy of a Roadster Shop Spec Chassis. It’s going to retain the classic look with a whole new personality!

It’s true that Mike “Q-Ball” Clarke recently rebuilt and reinstalled the engine in his 1967 Pontiac GTO, but after some miles, he spied some dreaded drips on the garage floor.    What to do?   He shares the tale in this episode of the V8 Radio Podcast.    Kevin Oeste also shares some thoughts on “off-shore” parts, just before the episode takes a left turn into a therapy session about a recent air show, the F35 fighter jets, and B-17 Bombers.   You’ll have to listen to get it all.   And of course, there’s Automotive Trivia and much more, all on a specially-priced V8 Radio Podcast!

Adding More Power to a Cool Square Body

This 1973 Chevrolet C10 pick up truck came to the V8 speed and Resto Shop for some suspension refinements and more power from an engine and transmission swap. The biggest part of the conversion was performing a CPP rear “C” notch and four link suspension system, which utilizes coil over shocks for better adjustability, more precise suspension control than the stock leaf springs, and a more comfortable lowered ride height. The front suspension was treated to tubular control arms and coil overs, also from CPP. Upgraded brakes and oversized YearOne rally wheels complete the stance.

Power has been upgraded through the use of a Blueprint Engines 435 horsepower 383 stroker Chevrolet V8, which comes complete with a Holley Terminator X fuel injection system, serpentine front drive system, and a 700 R4 4-speed Overdrive transmission. We fabricated a complete custom exhaust system with mandrel bent stainless tube and MagnaFlow mufflers for great flow and sound.

Once installed, detailed, and tuned, our team installed some new gauges from Classic Instruments along with A Vintage Air A/C system to update the C10 interior.

The truck now looks, drives, and sounds 100% better than it did when it came in.

How can the V8 speed in Resto Shop bring new life to your hot rod, classic, muscle car, or truck?

Wayne and Dan Jesel not only run one of the most successful and innovative valve train and engine parts businesses, but they also put their parts to the test on the salt at Bonneville. On this episode of the Bonneville Up To Speed Podcast, Kevin Oeste chats with Wayne Jesel about running the new Jesel-designed Equal 8 engine in their Ram pickup at the 2022 SCTA Speed Week event. Perhaps equally as impressive is the generosity of the Jesel team, who routinely welcome other land speed enthusiasts to drive, get licensed, and even set records in the Jesel pickup. To date, 10 people have gotten their 200 MPH club red hats behind the wheel of the bright yellow truck! Wayne also recalls the history of Jesel in racing, some insight on engine tech, and tips on how to get involved with land speed racing.
